The Local Plan is an important District Council document that sets the statutory planning framework for the district, shaping development many years into the future.
Huntingdonshire District Council is consulting on a number of additional sites that were submitted to the council for a variety of potential uses between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025.
Responding to this consultation, which runs from 23 April 2025 for 6 weeks until Wednesday 4 June 2025, is an opportunity for people to shape the future of Huntingdonshire.
There are two consultation documents:
Additional Sites Land Availability Assessments – A document that assesses 68 additional sites that have been submitted to us between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025. The document presents a conclusion on whether the sites submitted could be considered potentially suitable or unsuitable for development. Residents can see if there are sites where they live and provide feedback on our assessments through this consultation. If you don’t like them, tell us why, or tell us what you think would make it a good development. We will not need all of these sites, the number of sites needed will depend on the number of homes and jobs we need and our growth strategy. Some of this will be guided by how you respond to our options in the Further Issues and Options document.
Additional Sites Sustainability Appraisals – A document that assesses the sustainability of the additional sites submitted. Each site is assessed against 16 sustainability objectives based on the climate emergency, environmental, social and economic themes.
