Elections

We want to ensure that every person is able to vote without facing barriers. To make our polling stations accessible for everyone, we offer a range of support listed below.

Wheelchair accessibility

Our polling stations are wheelchair accessible or have a ramp available. The stations also have polling booths adapted for wheelchair users to vote securely.

Bring a friend, carer or relative with you

Anyone with a disability can bring a carer, friend or relative to the polling station to help you vote. The person helping must be aged 18 and over and will need to complete a form.

Available equipment in polling stations

We have the following equipment in polling stations to help you cast your vote:

  • fully trained and friendly staff who would be happy to assist if required

  • large copies of ballot papers

  • tactile voting devices to assist voters with a visual impairment

  • magnifiers

  • pencils with grips

  • badges identifying polling station staff

  • chairs for electors who cannot stand for long periods.

Audio recordings of the ballot paper are available, and please contact us separately at elections@huntingdonshire.gov.uk if this is the support that would assist you.

Remember that anyone voting in a polling station is required to be eligible to vote and show an accepted form of photo ID.

If you would prefer not to attend your polling station in person and would like to set up an alternative method of voting, please refer to our postal and proxy voting page.
