The Hospitality Shift Leader plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of hospitality services during events and daily operations. Acting as the first point of support for the team, the Shift Leader maintains service standards, motivates staff, and oversees operational tasks to create a seamless guest experience. With responsibility for service quality, team coordination, and compliance, this role ensures that every shift runs to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Burgess Hall, part of Huntingdonshire District Council’s One Leisure service, is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Hospitality Shift Leader to play a key role in the smooth delivery of our diverse calendar of events and functions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, guide, and support staff during shifts, ensuring service excellence and compliance with health, safety, and legal requirements.
- Deliver outstanding customer service, responding professionally to guest feedback and ensuring every visitor has a positive experience.
- Drive income growth by achieving sales targets through upselling, trading, and excellent product knowledge.
- Oversee cash handling, shift reporting, and stock management to ensure accountability and operational efficiency.
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security across bar and catering facilities.
- Support the wider One Leisure service in promoting a positive image of Huntingdonshire both locally and beyond.
We are looking for someone with a passion for hospitality, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to thrive in a busy events environment. You’ll play a vital role in shaping the customer journey at Burgess Hall and helping us grow as a leading events and entertainment venue.
About you
You are an enthusiastic and motivated hospitality professional with proven experience in delivering high-quality service in busy bar, catering, or event environments. A natural leader, you can inspire and guide your team while maintaining a calm, professional approach. You take pride in exceeding customer expectations, resolving issues effectively, and creating memorable experiences.
With a keen eye for detail, you are confident in handling cash, monitoring stock, and ensuring operational efficiency. You thrive in a role that combines hands-on service with responsibility for safety, compliance, and commercial success. Most importantly, you are adaptable, approachable, and committed to contributing positively to the reputation and growth of Burgess Hall and the wider One Leisure service.
