Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details

We want the development and delivery of research, data, business analysis and insight shaping what we do. Ensuring effective and efficient services, supporting continuous improvement.

Do you want to be part of a new team supporting services with their performance monitoring and influencing the priorities for our council? Would you like the opportunity to ensure we are data-driven, improving performance and impact?

If you do, you will support the corporate review of operational performance and delivery against the council's planned actions, helping to present the information so it is easy to understand trends against targets.

You will also contribute to the development of unit costs and benchmarking of performance with colleagues in the Performance and Insight team. Enabling the council and its services to develop services, strategy and policy to deliver the outcomes of Huntingdonshire Futures (the Place Strategy for Huntingdonshire) and our Corporate Plan.

About the role

Are you a well-organised, numerical thinker able to review performance information? Your strong numerical skills will allow you to interpret and present data in charts and graphs to support decision-making, supporting others to see the insight from data.

We are looking for a Performance Coordinator who wants to grow their career in a fast-paced and ambitious council. If you are creative with data, love a challenge and are a great multi-tasker, we want to hear from you.

You will:

Be accountable for collating and presenting accurate data and information from services across the council to create regular reports supporting the council's performance management framework.

Develop and provide an enterprising service - adaptable and dynamic supporting services and major projects with performance and benchmarking data to ensure that the council continues to develop its data maturity. Decisions and actions are driven or supported by data. You will also work with a range of colleagues across the council so you will need good communication skills.

Be a respectful team player, able to provide advice relating to data and analysis to inform decision-making at various levels, demonstrating and interpreting data.

Working closely with the Project Management Office and Transformation teams across the organisation, you will support continuous improvement of services to meet the needs of our district.

About you

  • Have good qualifications - 2 A levels and 5 GCSE grade C or above including mathematics and English or equivalent. Working experience in collating and presenting numerical information and writing summaries in a business environment

  • Good data analysis skills including statistics and the creation of graphs and charts

  • An understanding of data security

  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, and experience with other relevant software tools such as Power BI

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating your ability to work effectively with various teams and stakeholders

  • Independence, time-management skills, and a demonstrated history of personal growth through job experience, or other relevant experiences.

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. Huntingdonshire District Council does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and are unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
