Huntingdonshire District Council, in partnership with BID Huntingdon First, has introduced temporary shop wraps to enhance vacant retail units and attract prospective businesses.

Led by the council’s Economic Development team, this initiative is part of a broader effort to regenerate Huntingdon’s retail landscape and breathe new life into the town centre. The wraps use vibrant, eye-catching designs to improve the look of empty units, showcasing their potential for future occupants and creating a more inviting high street for our community.

Cllr Sam Wakeford, Executive Councillor for Economy, Regeneration and Housing at Huntingdonshire District Council, said: “Whilst the council continues its efforts to regenerate our market towns and fill vacant shops, this project is a positive step in enhancing the high street’s appearance and showcasing opportunities for businesses considering the area. We hope this project contributes to making Huntingdon a more appealing place to live, work, and visit.”

BID Huntingdon First Town Centre Manager, Paul Sweeney, said: “We’re delighted to see the Discover Huntingdon branding being used on an even bigger scale throughout the town, welcoming guests and brightening up some of our towns more austere areas. Highlighting the availability of empty units to prospective tenants with these shop wraps is a brilliant way to showcase what an area could look like.

“It’s great that Huntingdon’s overall vacancy rate is below the national average, and we are working with landlords to fill these units, however in the meantime, thanks to Huntingdonshire District Council, it’s great to see them get a fresh injection of life”

Businesses interested in occupying one of these retail units are encouraged to come forward. Whether you are an established retailer, an independent start-up, or a creative looking for a prime location to showcase your work, these units offer an excellent opportunity to be part of Huntingdon’s thriving community.
