Summary
You need to notify us if there is a cooling tower or evaporative condenser at premises you control (as either the owner or employer).
Notification allows us to monitor the environmental controls of the device, especially the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases such as Legionnaires’ disease, which have been linked to cooling towers.
We keep a register of all premises with cooling towers or evaporative condensers in the district.
You do not need to renew your notification, but you must let us know:
-
of any changes to the notification information or
-
if a cooling tower or evaporative condenser is decommissioned or dismantled.

-
a brief description of the location where the equipment is situated at the premises (this may include a site plan) and any other relevant information.
