If you are looking to holding a small scale or one-off event with food, entertainment and/or alcohol for sale then you may need to apply for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) to cover this event.
This will apply if you want to:

sell or supply alcohol
-
serve late night refreshment (hot food or drink between 11pm and 5am) or
-
provide regulated entertainment such as music, dancing and indoor sporting events
and do not have a Premises Licence.
Are there any conditions?
The following conditions apply:

Your event must involve no more than 499 people at any one time - this includes staff running the event.

It must last no more than 168 hours (7 days), with a minimum of 24 hours between your event and the start or finish of another TEN.

Premises can have up to 15 TENs per calendar year, as long as the total duration of the periods covered by TENs is less than 21 days per calendar year.

You must be 18 years or older to make an application for a TEN.

A personal licence holder can have a maximum of 50 TENs per year, of which 10 can be late TENs.

A non-personal licence holder can only have a maximum of 5 TENs per year, of which 2 can be late TENs.
Standard and late TENs
There are two types of TEN:

a standard notice, which is submitted at least ten working days before the event (working days do not include the day that the notice is submitted or the day of the event)

a late notice, which is submitted between nine and five working days before the event (working days do not include the day that the notice is submitted or the day of the event)
If you submit your notice less than five working days before the event it will automatically be rejected.
How do I apply?
To apply you must first register your details on the HDC Licensing Portal. Once registered, you will be able to submit your TEN application and pay the relevant fee.

Does tacit consent apply?
No. This means you cannot hold a temporary event until you receive consent from us.
