The Annual General Meeting of Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) took place on Thursday 21 May, at which the Leader and Cabinet took office following the 2026 Local Elections.

HDC will be run by a Joint Administration made up of 20 Liberal Democrat councillors, four HDC Independent councillors and two Green Party councillors. Cllr Sarah Conboy remains as the Leader of the Council, with Cllr Brett Mickelburgh as Deputy Leader.

The new cabinet and their portfolios are:

  • Executive Leader and Executive Councillor for Place – Cllr Sarah Conboy
  • Deputy Leader Executive Councillor for Economy, Regeneration and Housing – Cllr Brett Mickelburgh
  • Executive Councillor for Planning – Cllr Tom Sanderson
  • Executive Councillor for Climate, Transformation and Workforce – Cllr Lara Davenport Ray
  • Executive Councillor for Governance and Democratic Services – Cllr Liam Dewey-Beckett
  • Executive Councillor for Resident Services and Corporate Performance – Cllr Nathan Hunt
  • Executive Councillor for Parks and Countryside, Waste and Street Scene – Cllr Julie Kerr
  • Executive Councillor for Finance and Resources – Cllr Jo Harvey
  • Executive Councillor for Communities, Health and Leisure – Cllr Debbie Mickelburgh

In addition to the Cabinet roles, Cllr Stephen Ferguson was elected as the new Chair of the council, and Cllr Michael Burke was elected as the new Vice-Chair of the council.

“The coming year will be crucial as discussions around Local Government Reorganisation gather pace. Throughout this period of change, our priority will be to provide strong, stable and ambitious leadership for Huntingdonshire — ensuring the voice of our residents, businesses and communities is heard clearly in shaping the future of local government across our region.

“Huntingdonshire has a proud identity, a strong heritage and thriving communities. We are determined to protect what makes our district unique while continuing to deliver the high-quality services people rely on every day.

“As an administration, we will work closely with residents, businesses, community groups and partners to deliver on our priorities. Together, we can shape a future that is inclusive, resilient and ambitious for everyone who calls Huntingdonshire home.”
