Residents across Huntingdonshire are already seeing the benefits of local investment, as two Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funded projects were completed and reopened in May 2026.
CIL funding is collected from new developments in Huntingdonshire and allocated to support infrastructure and facilities that meet the needs of local communities. These revitalised spaces are providing welcoming, accessible places for residents to come together, connect, and thrive.
Glatton Village Hall, located in Glatton, was allocated £49,750 of CIL funding in October 2022 in order to replace the roof of the building, and has since undergone a complete refurbishment. It was reopened on 24 May 2026 at a ribbon-cutting event, where local residents were invited to come together to celebrate the new community hub.
Mandeville Hall Playground, in Kimbolton, was allocated £61,632 of CIL funding also in October 2025 and was reopened on 9 May 2026. The funding was used for brand new play equipment, a seating area for parents, resurfacing and even a climbing frame
made to resemble Kimbolton Castle, bringing a fantastic new facility for families and children.
More CIL funding has recently been approved for two more community projects. Warners’ Park, St Ives has been allocated £100,000 for refurbishment of the pavilion, to create a youth centre, and £97,000 has been allocated to Ramsey Community Hall for refurbishment and extension.
Councillor Tom Sanderson, Executive Councillor for Planning said “It’s great to see CIL funding making a real difference in our communities. These projects provide valuable spaces for residents to come together, and we’re pleased to continue investing in initiatives that support vibrant, connected neighbourhoods across Huntingdonshire.”
The first round of Strategic CIL Funding for 2026/27 was launched on 2 June 2026, and applications close on 31 July 2026, with decisions being made in October 2026. The new CIL funding allocations will continue to support a range of projects that will benefit residents, strengthen local services, and accommodate future growth across the district.
