We have been informed by the Government that the anticipated announcement on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will not be made today (16 July) as previously expected.
We had anticipated receiving details today on the proposed geographic footprints for the new unitary councils. However, the Government has advised that this decision has been delayed and is now expected to be made by October.
We are seeking further information from Government, including an explanation for the delay.
We appreciate that many residents are keen to understand the future shape of local government in our area and that this continued uncertainty may be disappointing.
We will continue to work closely with Government and our local authority partners across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and we will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
